Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Holds the Race Against Prey in UK Sales Chart

However, Prey Came Pretty Close

A different week, the same outcome. It looks like Nintendo isn’t losing any steam over the release of new titles. This week, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe maintained its no. 1 spot on the UK charts. Meanwhile, Arkane Studios’ sci-fi thriller Prey hit no. 2 in its week of release.

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe

Credit where credit is due, Prey is essentially a new IP (despite its namesake) going up against a juggernaut. Critically, Bethesda’s new game has performed pretty well so far. But, there’s no denying the power of a classic name like Mario Kart. First-party titles for the Nintendo Switch are expected to do very well in the near future and beyond. Therefore, it may take another highly-anticipated release before there’s a new no. 1.

Overall, this chart is very different from last week. Just below Prey, we have the most common name in the UK – Grand Theft Auto V. And falling 3 spots is none other than The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild at no. 7. At the same time, Ghost Recon: Wildlands, Sniper Ghost Warrior 3, and Little Nightmares fell out of the top 10. Perhaps it is no surprise that Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare rose up in their place alongside 2016’s best racing game, Forza Horizon 3.

All the games that returned and stayed in the top 10 are titles with great replayability and large online communities. See them below in the UK Software Chart for the week of May 8:

1. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
2. Prey
3. Grand Theft Auto V
4. Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare
5. LEGO Worlds
6. Rocket League
7. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
8. FIFA 17
9. Horizon: Zero Dawn
10. Forza Horizon 3
