Dooooooooooooommmmmmm!
Get ready puny humans, Zim is back! Unfortunately, it will not be in a reboot of the series. But instead in a made for TV movie. This is unsurprising really, as Nickelodeon will also be moving ahead with films for Hey Arnold! and Rocko’s Modern Life.
The information comes from Entertainment Weekly, who reported that Nickelodeon is moving ahead with the project to create a TV movie for Invader Zim, as it has previously announced for two of its other beloved cartoons. Apparently, it is part of the network’s goal to celebrate the 25th year of Nicktoons. Also to revive some toons for fans who have now aged into their 20s and 30s.
This could be great for Nickelodeon. Especially since many of these toons are considered cult classics. Some became popular despite not even staying on the air that long. Invader Zim only had a total of 2 seasons, but is still as eccentric and endearing as it was on day one. Even the announcement tweet triggers nostalgia.

Four of the main voice actors will return for the 90 minute movie. This includes Richard Horvitz (Zim), Rikki Simons (GIR), Andy Berman (Dib), and Melissa Fahn (Gaz). But as of right now, we do not have an official release date. However, Hey Arnold!: The Jungle Movie will air this year, and Rocko’s Modern Life TV special is currently being worked on. So while we wait, share your comments below and remember…the universe is doomed.
