Call of Duty WW2 Lets You Battle with 48 Players, According to Rumor

While It Hasn’t Been Confirmed, 48 Players Would Be Awesome

Yesterday’s reveal of Call of Duty WW2, as well as its little tease snippets, brought forth quite a bit of hype. Not only is Activision’s latest title going back to its roots, it is also pushing its technical limits a bit. Photo-realistic graphics are no joke. But check out this latest rumor. It seems the game’s online multiplayer will facilitate up to 48 players at once.

Call of Duty WW2

Here’s the source of our wishful rumor. According to a listing on the Xbox Store, posted on Reddit, the game allows 2 to 48 players online. Now, one of the new features in this latest Call of Duty is the new Headquarters system. In that showcase, we see near 48 players, so the Xbox listing would fit this bill.

However, the Windows Store claims online multiplayer will support 2 to 18 players. So, which is it? While it looks like Headquarters can hold quite a few players, maybe the actually game modes facilitate less. In other words, they are completely separate instances. One of these stores has to be wrong; otherwise, cross-play between Xbox One and Windows 10 players is a no go.

Call of Duty WW2 releases across all platforms on November 3rd. If you pre-order, you gain access to the private beta. Perhaps the beta will confirm the number of players in one game mode. Or, we’ll find out for certain at this year’s upcoming E3. Until then, let us know your own thoughts about this rumor. Go wild with your speculation. And have a glorious day.
