Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Launches for Nintendo Switch on April 28th, and Comes with a Whole Cast of New Characters, Karts, Gameplay Modes
The all-in-one Mario Kart combo, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, comes to Nintendo Switch consoles on April 28th, and it’s bringing a whole bunch of new features, visuals, characters, karts, and gameplay modes along with it! With this game, you’re not only getting every single character, track, and kart from the Wii U version (yes, even from the DLCs), you’re getting a ton of new surprises. Oh, and anti-gravity action.
The five new characters included in the Switch release will be (drumroll please)… Inkling Girl, Inkling Boy, King Boo, Dry Bones and Bowser Jr.! Bringing the racing numbers to a grand total of 42 available players. New Splatoon karts, stacked items, and smart steering controls give this classic an upgrade that it deserves. They also brought back a multiplayer Battle mode that can be played locally in split-screen fashion and online, that is, once online features become available later this fall.
The multiplayer games you’ll be getting are Renegade Roundup, an all new game mode making its debut in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, where players must capture others and put them in jail before the timer runs out, Balloon Battle, Bob-omb Blast, Coin Runners, and Shine Theif.
Up to four players can jump in and play through split-screen multiplayer while the Switch is docked. But if you want to be like one of those tech-savvy young individuals in the Nintendo Switch commercials, you can undock your Switch and detach the Joy-Con controllers to play anywhere you want to with a friend. LAN sessions can host 12 players, and two players can even share one system during LAN play, making for one hell of a party.
