Despite Destiny 2 Announcement Support for the Original Game Will Continue

Bungie Support for Destiny Will Continue in the Future

With the recent official announcement of Destiny 2, and the release of the game trailer, fans are already asking Bungie what the future has to hold for the original Destiny game. With the final event, Age of Triumph, on now, players just can’t help but wonder about the fate of the game.

This final event for the original game in the series, Age of Triumph, is a celebration of the game, as Bungie looks into the future with the sequel. Here is what Community Manager David Dague, or DeeJ, from Bungie, had to say when the event was announced: “We want to create a final event, like a parade, a victory lap. Our goal is to create a culmination of three years of adventure, to celebrate the community that has gathered and to give them a curtain call. The race is over, they’ve knocked down every combatant, and while they stand on the precipice of a new adventure that will take them to new worlds to tell new stories, we’d like to take account of the wonderful experiences we’ve shared with them and the awesome things they’ve done.”

Though this seems as if Bungie is closing a chapter in the series, DeeJ assured fans that although they are “celebrating the conclusion of the adventure of Destiny 1,” it is not the end of it. “Destiny 1 is still a game that will be there for players…we’ve planned to support it for the foreseeable future, so while we do have a sense of finality and closure as the theme of this event, we are by no means turning the lights off on Destiny 1.”

DeeJ also mentioned that Destiny 1 will be there for players to return to once Destiny 2 comes out, as well as for newcomers who might want to start the series from the beginning. That’s good news for old and new players alike, thanks Bungie!
