Up Close and Personal with the Largest Mountain on the Planet in Everest VR
Since its launch in August 2016, Everest VR has achieved critical acclaim for its stunning visuals; Over time, developing into one of the most realistic and beautiful VR experiences to date. Anyone with a remote interest in traversing the highest mountain on earth can do so right now from the comfort of home. Sólfar Studios, in partnership with Nordic Visuals and animation house RVX, is happy to announced Everest VR for the Oculus Rift.
Originally released on the Vive, Everest VR now comes with an authentic documentary experience featuring the iconic 1953 Hillary Expedition. It comes as one and first of 18 different historical expedition routes. Following the Hillary Expedition in God Mode, you traverse along the exact route documented in a stunning collection of high-resolution photographs. These were provided by the Royal Geographical Society (with IBG) in London, granting audiences the most authentic experience to Everest just short of an actual mountain climb.
Thus, utilizing stereophotogrammetry techniques and multi-resolution shading, Nordic and RVX created a CGI Everest to scale in the game. Then, through the power of Unreal Engine 4, brought everything to incredible heights of realism. Experience interactive levels from Base Camp, the Khumbu Icefall, Hillary Step, Lhotse Face, and the ascent to Summit.
Right now, you can obtain the full experience through Oculus Home for $14.99. Simply note the minimum PC requirements: 8 GB RAM, an Intel® i5-4590 or greater CPU, an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960 or better or an AMD 290 or better GPU.
With all this effort in providing the most realistic Mt. Everest experience, what are the user’s thoughts? Feel free to comment down below; we’d like to know. And stick around for more of the latest VR and gaming news.
