Overwatch PTR Patch: Roadhog, D.Va, and Ana are Getting Nerfed!

But the Overwatch Patch Will Also Include Some Nice Changes

In following the latest changes on Blizzard’s public test realm servers(PTR), we learn about the next Overwatch patch. Among changes, character Roadhog is getting a nerf. But let Blizzard explain: “Targets are now pulled directly in front of Roadhog (rather than straight to him), except in cases where Roadhog drastically rotates.” That also means characters no longer get pulled through walls. Overwatch players should be familiar; Roadhog’s Chain Hook has been able to pull opponents despite lack of sight. According to the latest patch notes, that will no longer be an issue.

Another character Blizzard believes needed rectifying was D.Va. To that end, her armor has been halved while her health has been increased. That will leave her with 400 health and 200 armor. Their reasoning: “D.Va’s armor often made her feel like she had no weaknesses, even against heroes that are often effective against bigger targets (like Reaper).” Additionally, a slight adjustment to her damage that decreases its overall output. Specifically, she will fire 11 bullets per round, instead of 8, but bullets now inflict 2 damage instead of 3. If this adjustment works as they say it will, D.Va’s damage should feel more “consistent.”

But equally worth noting is that Ana’s Biotic Grenade now boosts 50% of the healing it normally boosted. This, too, was a major problem when thrown on characters with high health pools. Additionally, her healing bonus was extra potent in teams using more than one healer. So for the sake of balance, Blizzard saw fit to make this small adjustment. And last but not least, Sombra’s time to hack has changed from 1 second to 0.8 seconds. This makes her character less hectic and helps avoid being shot at–or being hooked–while trying to disable enemies.

Overwatch will also see some worthwhile changes to expression. For starters, players can channel more of themselves with the new Emote Wheel that’s coming; same with sprays. Instead of carrying just one emote and spray into every match, players will be able to showcase various. Surely, a necessary change since players get an abundance of sprays in lootboxes(perhaps too many).
