Rumours Abound Regarding Eidos Montreal’s Upcoming Projects
A rumour is making the rounds involving Eidos Montreal thanks to their recent comments on the Square / Marvel teamup. According to a report from Wccftech, the Canadian company is splitting their time between Deus Ex, Tomb Raider, and Guardians of the Galaxy. This all comes from an article via Eurogamer lamenting the lack of new Deus Ex content in the wake of these announcements.
It’s a real shame we won’t be seeing any new Deus Ex for some time, although it’s unclear how this ties to a GotG project. In fact, the quote from Eidos Montreal which led to this is rather light on relevant branding. Eidos responded as follows:Â “While we are still working on expanding the Deus Ex Universe, along with creating new content and updates for Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, we’re also devoting our talents towards working with Crystal Dynamics and Marvel on The Avengers project.”
Nowhere in the Eurogamer piece is there any mention of Guardians of the Galaxy. In addition, the evidence suggesting Eidos is working on more Tomb Raider releases (to be fair, it would be weird if they weren’t) is still that same stolen look at a powerpoint presentation left open on a subway.
Guardians is a major arm of the marvel cinematic universe. It stands to reason some licensed content featuring these characters is incoming, especially after this big Square/Marvel Twitter teaser. Kotaku’s Jason Schreier has even weighed in with confirmation of the same rumour, albeit from separate sources. Even without official confirmation, it’s looking like this one is happening. Stay tuned for more details, including official announcements, the moment they hit the web.
