You read that right Mass Effect fans! As part of today’s ongoing N7 Day celebrations, it was announced by Major Nelson over on Twitter that both Mass Effect 2 and Mass Effect 3 are joining the Xbox One Backward Compatibility program! Now you’ll be able to play the entire trilogy on your Xbox One in preparation for Mass Effect: Andromeda.

It’s important to note that neither Mass Effect 2 or 3 are going to be available digitally via the Xbox store at this time. You will require the original game discs in order to play. Continuing the journey of Commander Shepard and crew on the Normandy this is one of the most celebrated trilogies of all time. Of course, we all know the rocky outcome of Mass Effect 3 and the fan reaction but time heals all wounds (or so they say) and now all eyes are looking forward to the upcoming new entry into the franchise. What better way to warm up for Andromeda than playing through all three original games?
If you haven’t seen it yet you should definitely check out the new Mass Effect: Andromeda cinematic reveal trailer that was released today too. It’s a pretty stunning look into one of the most anticipated games of 2017. We’ll be keeping a close eye on that one as we lead up to the Spring 2017 release date. For now, enjoy catching up on Mass Effect 2 and 3!
