Dishonored 2 Reportedly Suffering Major Performance Issues

Copies of Dishonored 2 have made their way out into the wild and some of the reports coming back indicate that the game is suffering some pretty serious performance issues on PC. Reports of the frame rate dropping well below 30 fps, in fact.

NeoGAF user, Dmax3901 stated that he received a review copy from Bethesda on the day before the game’s release in Australia. This is in accordance with the much talked about new review policy from Bethesda that sees review copies go out a single day before retail hits. Firing up the game, Dmax3901 says that Dishonored 2 was unable to maintain 60 fps at 1440p on his PC. This is regardless of the fact his PC sports the specs to do so. In order to try and compromise he dropped the resolution to 1080p and found that at times the resolution still dipped to a boggling low of 13 fps.

Still wanting to see where the basement might lie for the game he even tuned his graphics settings to Very Low and reported the frame rates still dropping saying, “While the art style is just as gorgeous as its predecessor the visuals don’t seem like they should be all that demanding.” In a screenshot provided, you can see that it’s running at 13 fps (top left) and that the lighting and textures of the game are severely toned down.

In yet another attempt to fix the issue, Dmax uninstalled his drivers and re-installed the specific AMD drivers recommended by Bethesda. Unfortunately, the frame rates still persisted, particularly in ‘open areas’, he reported.

Now, it remains to be seen if these issues rear their heads on the console version but our hunch is telling us this will very likely be a PC-specific problem. Keep it locked to COGconnected for more information as we have it.
