Bloodstained To Have Staggered Content Release

Bloodstained’s Development Continues To Bring More Good News

IGA and his team successfully met the goals needed to get tBloodstained’s development rolling, and it sounds like things have been going rather well over the course of the year. No noted delays, a successful campaign, and the reception to the campaign was downright meteoric. Fans of the Metroid-Vania style of gameplay from Castlevania’s later iterations have been deprived with recent titles, but Bloodstained aims to change that. For the unfamiliar, Bloodstained: Ritual Of The Night is Koji Igarashi’s Kickstarter campaign, in which you take the role of an alchemist with a bizarre curse. Across the course of the game, you’ll fuse various elements to create all sorts of weapons as you aim to conquer the many, many monsters within this castle. It’s essentially as close to a Castlevania title as we can get, without calling it Castlevania.

Recently, the team has confirmed on their forum that the title is going to be taking a page or two from Yacht Club Games’ book. Bloodstained is going to ship with the initially planned campaign, and any of the promised additional content that comes through will be released upon the game actually coming out. It’s the exact same way that Shovel Knight handled many of it’s updates, and it proved to be an incredibly smart move for Yacht Club, as Shovel Knight basically kicked ass. Bloodstained is a title that’s been on the radar for at least a few of us over here at COG, and as more information comes to light, we’re hoping this title releases with similar reception to Shovel Knight, rather than end up with another case of “Mighty No. 9-itis”. (It’s a real condition I swear.)

If you want more information on this title and its Kickstarter campaign, you can head on over to its page for more details. The campaign is concluded, but you can throw money their way on their fangamer page to still get access to a copy of the game, should you back it. Bloodstained is aiming for a release window of March 2017, and is expected to have versions for PC, PS4, Vita, Wii U and Xbox One.
