Planned Beta for Gran Turismo Sport Officially Tanked

Sorry Fans, No Beta for Gran Turismo Sport

At one point there was a planned beta for Gran Turismo Sport but it  has officially been scrapped says series creator, Kazunori Yamauchi. While the beta was officially announced alongside the game back in October of 2015, it seems like the beta has been dropped in order to allow the game to release this year.

Commenting on the cancellation, Yamauchi had this to say,

“That’s something that I’m very, very sorry about. In order to do a beta test we have to make a gold master of the beta test code, and for us it actually takes as much effort as to finish the real master code of the actual game.

Just because it’s beta we can’t just throw it out there. It’s required that in order to do an open beta we have to create a proper master for it, and considering the release timing that we announced, we decided that we just don’t have enough time to do two gold masters for the game. By omitting that it saves us about three months of time.”

When asked if this 100% meant that the beta was to be cancelled, Yamauchi replied “Most likely I don’t think it would be possible. I’m very sorry but that’s just how it turned out.”

Launching here in North America on November 15th, it looks like you’ll have to wait right until the bitter end to have a chance to try the PS4’s next great racer.
