Witcher 3 Expansion To Add New Gwent Cards, Possible Mobile Gwent Game In The Works

Witcher 3 Expansion Adding New Gwent Cards and More

CD Projekt Red announced yesterday at PAX East that the upcoming Witcher 3 expansion โ€œBlood and Wineโ€ will add new things to the in-game card game Gwent,

Content from the Skelliege location will be added to Gwent, along with four new cards. CD Projekt Red displayed these cards during a panel yesterday.

The Witcher 3โ€™s first expansion, Octoberโ€™s Hearts of Stone, also added new Gwent cards.

During a Q&A session, a fan asked if CD Projekt Red would release Gwent as a standalone game for mobile devices. The developer dodged the question. A developer asked the audience to sound off on whether or not this was something they would want, recording a video of the audienceโ€™s overwhelmingly positive and rousing response. The video will be taken back to CD Projekt Redโ€™s office in Poland to show to the team to possibly inspire them to bring Gwent to mobile devices.

Another fan asked if Cyberpunk 2077 would include its own version of Gwent, to which the developers said itโ€™s too early to talk about that, though they joked it could be called โ€œCyber-Gwent.โ€

We reviewed the most recent expansion and said this:

โ€œIn the end, Hearts of Stone gives you even more to do in the expansive and addictive Witcher 3. Requiring you to finish the game before you can truly tackle it, Stone grabs the term โ€˜expansionโ€™ and makes sure you donโ€™t get it confused with the awesome free DLC theyโ€™ve already rolled out. With new upgrades, new armour, new merchants, pretty much everything has a little bit of something new to it, Hearts of Stone is an add-on that you wonโ€™t be disappointed with. With CD Projekt RED promising an even bigger expansion in Blood and Wine, the case for Witcher 3 as Game of the Year is continually gaining strength. I only wish I could mail RED a thank you letter to return the gesture.โ€
