‘Stream House’ Offers Gamers Free Rent to Play Video Games

Watching others play games online, through such services as Twitch, has become a huge part of the video game industry – much to the annoyance of Jimmy Kimmel, among others.  But, with the phenomenon catching on, it is becoming a legitimate way for many to make serious money.

Now, the founders of Stream House, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, are offering gamers the chance to move in to their house and play games for a few hours a day – in return, you’ll get free rent.  Sounds like a video gamer’s dream come true.

Simon Kubiak, Stream House’s founder, says they are “hiring” 3 people for just such an opportunity.  There are a few requirements, though.  You’ll have to be willing to move in by January, and you’ll have to be an engaging personality, who can hold an audience online as you play your games.

“Everyone can play games,” Kubiak says. “But can you engage an audience, can you keep a viewer watching your channel?”

The job won’t be paid at first, so it’s just the free rent that you can expect if you’re hired.  But who knows, the way this idea is catching on, it seems we could be seeing real money from this type of thing, much like the YouTube stars, such as PewDiePie, who rake in millions.
