She Got Game: NBA Live 19 Will Let Players Create Female Ballers

EA Sports Described the New Feature As One Geared Towards Inclusiveness

NBA Live 19 will allow players to create their own female basketball players in the game’s “The One” career mode, announced publisher EA Sports on Friday.

“The inclusion of female players is an important step toward leveling the playing field, providing gamers increased opportunities to express their unique individuality and create a reflection of themselves while competing in the game,” an official press release read.

Female player characters in “The One” are exactly the same as their male counterparts (e.g. being able to travel around the game world, can build up their own squads, same skills, gear, etc.), according to the NBA Live 19 press release.

Notably, last year’s NBA Live 18 featured every WNBA team and let players play as league stars such as Sue Bird, Elena Delle Donne and Nneka Ogwumike. However, the game didn’t allow players to create their own female players but did allow them to create male players.

In addition to all these other features, female NBA Live players will be able to scan their faces for their customizable character by using the NBA Live Companion app and the recently introduced Icon System—which allows you to model your player’s game after basketball greats such as Michael Jordan—also applies to WNBA legends such as Los Angeles Sparks power forward Candace Parker.

NBA Live 19 is scheduled to come out on September 7th for the PS4 & Xbox One.
