BioShock, Dishonored Devs Making Co-op Horror Game

The Blackout Club Coming Early Next Year

From the team that brought us The Magic Circle comes The Blackout Club, a co-op horror game centered around using smartphones to capture the terrible truth. Which truth, you might ask? Why, only the truth about a small town at the center of a vast conspiracy, of course! While we’re clearly wading into Stranger Things/Spielberg territory here, we’re doing so in the modern age.

The Blackout Club co-op horror

The Blackout Club is centered around a group of teenagers who have been losing longer and longer amounts of time for mysterious reasons. When one of them disappears and (of course) the adults don’t believe them, the only option is to take matters into their own hands. Unlike every other example of this kind of story, the teens will be using their smartphones to gather the needed evidence. You know, instead of doing something insane like trying to take down a shadowy government agency with no combat skills or experience.

Question, the studio at the helm here, is staffed by some real heavyweights. There’s the Creative Director and Lead Writer of BioShock 2, the Senior Gameplay Programmer of Dishonored, and the Lead Effects Artist for BioShock Infinite. A quick look at the teaser suggests that this talent is being put to good use, too. Currently The Blackout Club is set for release in the first part of 2019. Neat!
