Cory Barlog Confirms New GOW is Not 10-12 Hours

Twitter Exchange with Barlog Hints at Game’s Length

Cory Barlog hinted at the length of the next God of War game on Twitter yesterday. Barlog posted earlier in the day about hitting a critical milestone for the game’s development. The team had just completed a full playthrough of the game. While this isn’t the same as going gold, it’s still a major step in the right direction.

A fan on twitter bemoaned the possibility of the game being only 10-12 hours in length, to which Barlog responded “no.”

God of War

Ideally, this means the game is longer than the fans are worried it will be. Previous entries in the series have clocked in between 9 and 12 hours. This is a perfectly respectable play time for an action game, although fans may want more for their money this time around. Presently available footage suggests a departure in tone for this installment. The voice actor for Kratos is changing. The setting is a brand new for the series. Perhaps this means a change in the game’s length, as well.

The next entry in the God of War series doesn’t have a release date yet. To this end, it will be some time before players can confirm the game’s actual length. Although play time is not inexorably tied to quality. Even if Barlog’s comments are inaccurate, the game may still be pretty good.
