Warhammer 40K: Inquisitor – Martyr Trailer
In Warhammer 40,000: Inquisitor – Martyr, you can run, but you can’t hide. In NeocoreGames first major reveal since its debut last summer, the Hungarian developer has launched a new monthly video series called ‘Inquisitorial Log,’ with this premiere video focused on in-game destruction. The first trailer displays how players can heave gunfire into an array of obstacles, only to watch them erode, splinter away, or even explode. Using a volatile environment paired with a destructible cover-based system is just one way Warhammer 40,000: Inquisitor – Martyr stands out from the crowd of me-too dungeon crawlers.
In the grim future there is only WAR, and in Warhammer 40,000: Inquisitor – Martyr, NeocoreGames’ goal is to faithfully evoke the atmosphere of the violent 41st millennium, a time when destruction was very prominent. As players tear chunks out of walls with their kinetic weapons or simply vaporize whole sections of an area, they will feel like they are fighting a real war.
Of course destruction is not only a cosmetic feature, the covers that players and enemies can both utilize also are destructible, bringing another tactical layer to the action-RPG gameplay. Covers provide a more realistic approach to close range, visceral firefights and both the players and enemy creatures can effectively employ these positions to mitigate incoming damage. This new gameplay-driven video illustrates how players and AI can strategically hide behind destructible boxes, barriers, and machinery for quick pop-and-shoot tactics. But after a few rounds of fire, each party must dash for new cover or go full-on face-to-face to take a battle.
