Spyro Reignited Trilogy Gameplay E3 2018
I hate to say it, but I am old. I remember playing Spyro the Dragon when I was younger and the absolute joy it was to explore a colorful world as a sassy purple dragon. It makes me feel even older to realize that the average gamer probably has never heard of or played a solid Spyro entry, so to see the original games return with a jaw-dropping remaster trilogy puts a smile on my face. This game looks exactly how us older gamers with nostalgia goggles remember it looking. These games were known for their incredible gameplay and wholesome, entertaining protagonist who had just enough of an attitude that our parents didn’t mind him. Some lucky bugger on the COGconnected team got to go hands-on with Spyro Reignited Trilogy at E3 this year, and we have the footage here for you to think back and remember all the good times.
The Spyro Reignited Trilogy is a complete remaster from the ground up of the legendary Spyro the Dragon series which originally began back in 1998. He may have had a minor facelift, but Spyro is still the dragon we know and love, and the gameplay we have seen here reinforces just how true to the series Toys For Bob was when recreating the original experience. Spyro was known among gamers for being a sassy hero who rarely wanted to take orders or really do anything, a sight uncommon in games in the 90s. With an overly vibrant color palette and some truly humorous gaming, Spyro looks to be getting the revitalization he so desperately deserves. Whether you grew up with him or have never seen his face before, be prepared for one hell of a treat. I for one can’t wait to encounter that horrifying Yeti boss from Spyro 2 – seasoned gamers know the one.
