Soul Calibur 6 Hands-On Combat from E3 2018

We can all agree that the Soul Calibur series has been through a rough patch. The unmentionable free to play game, the attempted RPG from the Wii era, and of course the lackluster experience of the previous core entry. For many of us, Soul Calibur 3 was the absolute pinnacle of the series, involving a lengthy single-player mode, tons of characters, and a fantastic create a fighter mode. Each entry since then has felt more like a boiled down shell of itself, but Namco seems to be listening to its fans as of late and we are cautiously optimistic of the future of the series with Soul Calibur 6. They are trying their best to tease out only small bits of information, but what we have seen so far has been spectacular. At E3 we went hands-on with the game to see how it feels – particularly the legendary newcomer Geralt of Rivia. With three matches under our belts, we’ve compiled all three bouts here for your viewing pleasure, the first pitting the Witcher against series classic Ivy. Enjoy.

Following that, Geralt moved on to do battle with Taki, lets see how he fared against her.

And finally we switch gears over to Ivy vs Sophitia to see how they handle with the new mechanics and gameplay.

Soul Calibur 6 is the upcoming latest entry into the Soul Calibur franchise. Taking place at the beginning of the epic saga, players will learn more about and once again quest for the swords of legend. Bandai Namco has stated the combat has been streamlined to make it easier for new players and the creation system was teased by one of the game designers during a Pre-E3 show, however, we have yet to learn much about it. Geralt of Rivia will be making a guest appearance from the Witcher 3, but it’s hard to imagine given the series history that they will stop at only one guest character.
