Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy: 4 Reasons Why I’m Actually Hopeful

Welcome to the Guardians of the Frickin’ Galaxy

Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy is just about a month away. Fans have been burned by Marvel games from Square Enix before, so some may have due skepticism, but there are some big differences between the games that show that things will go a little differently.

Our hands-on look at Guardians of the Galaxy gave a promising demo of what the entire game could achieve with its mixture of action, humor, and story. While players will only play as Star-Lord throughout the game, this gives the narrative a consistent perspective.

Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy

When the Guardians are in the heat of a fight, the essence of teamwork really comes through, even when you are in control of just one character. The other members of the team have abilities that come in handy and taking down enemies easier. There is a battle sequence called a Huddle, which takes a break from the action by giving the Guardians a motivation and stat boost.

In between missions, the Guardians return to the Milano, which acts as a hub. Here, Star-Lord can upgrade his equipment and abilities, as well as interact with Drax, Gamora, Groot, and Rocket, which is what we all really want to see.

The soundtrack has a wonderful mix of original music and iconic songs from the 80s, which Guardians of the Galaxy has come to be known for. 1980s pop culture plays an important part of creating the game’s style and tone, much like it has done in the MCU films.
