Kirby Star Allies Video Review
While his might not be the first face that comes to mind when you hear the word Nintendo, Kirby has been a stable of the beloved video game company for ages. Since his first appearance in 1992, Kirby has become a staple of Nintendo, although he has been the most prevalent on the companies series of handheld devices. This time around, Kirby has found his way onto Nintendo’s golden hybrid console and the results could not be better.
The main feature of Kirby Star Allies is right in the name: Allies. Kirby is able to recruit anyone he encounters to become his ally, offering the chance for up to four players to work together on Kirby’s adventure. It’s a simple idea, but one executed in such a perfectly “Kirby” way that it actually makes multiplayer feel fresh. Want to know more about the adorable little ball from Dreamland? Kirby Star Allies is the latest in a long string of Kirby titles – 31 in fact – and returns to his roots of travelling in classic side-scrolling style, but this time around Kirby is all about his friends – or more accurately, allies. Kirby now has the ability to make anyone he encounters his ally, allowing up to three other players to join in on the action and combine various powers and abilities for super moves. Multiplayer is currently limited to local co-op but the possibilities are seemingly endless when it comes to combined moves and unique teams.
Kirby Star Allies is available now exclusively on the Nintendo Switch. For more information, check out the games official website.
