God of War 4K Gameplay and Impressions
Fans have been waiting a very long time to see the Ghost of Sparda return, and what they find might catch them off guard. Kratos, having defeated his enemies, is no longer obsessed with rage. No, the new God of War will see Kratos battling all-new challenges he has never faced before, namely, being a father and mentor, trying to lead a quiet life. Fans of the series will remember that Atreyus isn’t his first child (we miss you, Calliope) but this is the first time we will see Kratos attempting to prepare his child for the world around them.
This is a new and strange world for Kratos as well, stepping into the realm of Norse mythology after having slaughter all of the Greek world. God of War is such a massively anticipated game that it’s going to have a high bar to reach with all the hype its set for itself. Does it reach these heights? Check out our video Impressions below and see what we think after going hands-on with the Ghost of Sparda’s latest adventure.
God of War is a soft reboot of the series, taking Kratos from the world of Greek mythology – which he subsequently killed all of the deities within – and planting him years later as an older and wiser warrior in the world of the Norse. Time appears to be catching up with the Ghost of Sparda, his movement and attacks more calculated and his outlook on life is much more bitter. Kratos will see a powerful growth as a character, particularly in his interactions with his young son, Atreyus, of whom he hasn’t quite told him of their heritage.
God of War is set for release April 20th, exclusively on PlayStation 4. For more information, check out the game’s official website.
