Gears 5 Video Review
After what seems like an eternity of waiting, Gears 5 is finally upon us. Continuing the story of JD, Del, and Kait, The Coalition has put an incredible amount of work into developing the latest chapter in the Gears franchise. Gears 5 continues on the path of JD, Del, and Kait, offering players a full recap of the events of the series up to the games starting point. While combat remains largely the same for fans of the series with an emphasis on cover-based combat and bombastic, action-movie oriented set pieces, it does also introduce the use of open-world exploration in a vein similar to the latest God of War game. Gears 5 also includes a number of game modes including the classic Horde, the new Arcade which requires players to display skills beyond using shotguns, and of course the all new Escape mode. Escape will see a squad enter a hive to plant a chemical weapon, only to flee as quickly as possible before they are consumed in the explosion with a legion of ravenous Locust at their back. Also new to Gears 5 is the stage builder, allowing you to customize your own maps to play with rudimentary room placement.
