Dragon Quest Builders 2 Video Review
Dragon Quest has been an ongoing series for longer than you might think. Appearing as far back as the original NES console under the name Dragon Warrior in the West, this iconic franchise has managed to stand the test of time with a number of spin-off titles with none quite as unique as Builders. Dragon Quest Builders 2 combines the blocky harvesting and creation of the Minecraft series with the long-running APRG franchise while maintaining the classic enemies, items, and sound effects of the original games all those years ago. While a quirky pairing, it works incredibly well to give players new and old something fun and creative to get lost in. Curious what we mean? Check out our video review below.
Dragon Quest Builders 2 carries everything that made its original iteration great and improves upon it like any good sequel should. With a deeper, more mature narrative tone without going too dark, refined inventory management, and all new mechanics such as farming and rail systems, this is a worthy successor. Rather than splitting the game into chapters, players now have a “free play” personal island they can customize to their hearts content, as well as offering a number of explorable, small islands to encounter and progress the story as well as learn all new recipes and skills. The game even offers a multiplayer mode where players can come together to build something incredible. There is a little bit of a learning curve on the controls which can bog you down from time to time but over all its a fantastic entry.
Dragon Quest Builders 2 is available now on PlayStation 4 and the Nintendo Switch. For more information check out the game’s official website, and if you are curious what kind of building you can make in the game be sure to watch our video!
