Remedy has been known for their cerebral, thought-provoking games in the past yet none captivated audiences quite as much as the reveal of their latest release, Control. With impressive, atmospheric stages, phenomenal lighting, and some truly otherworldly powers, we’ve all been waiting quite some time to see if this mind-bending title could pull off every promise it offered. If you are just as curious as we were, you definitely want to check out our video review below to find out the fine details of the game – spoiler-free – and see for yourself.
Control tells the story of Jesse Faden, the new director for the Federal Bureau of Control’s Oldest House; the New York branch of paranormal investigation and monitoring. With the invasion of an alien force known as the Hiss, Jesse most explore the infiltrated government office as reality itself is being warped and twisted around her to figure out how to stop this invading force and save the world. Control is the thinking-mans action game, utilizing cover, strategy, and incredible powers to solve puzzles, manipulate the environment, and defeat the Hiss. With beautiful lighting and atmospheric environments, everything about this game is dripping with a gritty, neo-noir aesthetic screaming with personality. Despite a few technical problems and a much needed overhaul of the menus organization, Control delivers on everything we had hoped it would be and stands out as Remedy’s best game to date.
