COGconnected’s Best of 2017 Awards – Best Moment or Sequence

As gamers have grown since the days of 8-bit entertainment, so too have video games. It has been a familial affinity for one another, in that as we grow older, as we mature and learn about life and the world around us, video games have taken the same strides in maturity to give us an experience worth having. Not only are we now met with fantastic situations and adventures to conquer, but we find ourselves often perched on the cusp of a moral dilemma, having to make a tough choice we could never handle in real life.

Video games have stepped up and created some of the absolute most memorable experiences in entertainment, causing us to be washed in emotions we never expected from some well-written coding. 2017 delivered some truly awe-inspiring moments, making us contemplate morality and life, or even just delivering a calming and happy moment of serenity in which you can’t help but smile.

Super Mario Odyssey was one of the most highly anticipated games of the year, and for good reason: it delivered in every minuscule expectation we had and more. It gave us a game riddled with emotion and nostalgia rolled into one incredibly addictive experience. Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild completely redefined what it means to be a Zelda game. Winning countless awards and creating truly awe-inspiring moments make this a game you absolutely must play. And who could forgot the monumental emotions of fighting against the Nazi’s in war-torn USA in the alternate history FPS Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus?

So many games set out to pluck at our heart strings for better or for worse, but only one particular moment can be called the best. Check out or video below to find out which moment resonated with us the most, but beware of spoilers from the nominees.
