13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim Video Review
13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim was originally a 2019 PS4 game. This month, it comes out on Nintendo Switch. The game is a mix of adventure and RTS gameplay. Story-wise, it covers 13 different characters, all of which are spread across different points in time.
The each of the characters’ stories intersect at one point or another. They all have recurring dreams of giant monsters attacking their city. Soon after, they somehow develop the ability to summon giant mechs to combat these monsters called Deimos.
The gameplay of 13 Sentinels is broken up into three main parts; Destruction, Remembrance, and Analysis. Destruction mode puts players into an RTS-style game mode, where they deploy the mechs called Sentinels. This mode has three levels of difficulty; Casual, Normal, and Intense. Completing objectives in Destruction can unlock information that can be used in Analysis.
In Remembrance mode, your characters move around in 2D spaces, where they can explore their stories. There are also branching dialogue options that can affect the outcome of some scenes. As the story advances, more events, stories, and items can be archived in Analysis, where the player can put together the larger story.
13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim is a love letter to retro mech anime and gamers who like a nice, complex story. It does not demand that you have a deep RTS background. If these are elements that you like in a game, 13 Sentinels might be right for you.
Thank you for keeping it locked on COGconnected.
