JBL Quantum 810 Wireless Headset Review
When I think of gaming headsets, JBL isn’t the first brand that comes to mind. Don’t get me wrong, JBL has long since been considered one of the best when it comes to audio. Yet when it comes to gaming audio Turtle Beach, Astro, SteelSeries and Logitech seem to hog the spotlight. This is unfortunate because JBL has some fantastic gaming audio solutions. The JBL Quantum 810 is a perfect example of that. These cans are versatile, comfortable, and sound absolutely fabulous.
Not to mention, I love the overall design and look. Much like every other headset on the market, it is black and is mostly all plastic. But don’t let that fool you. They are aesthetically pleasing, and the ear cups light up brilliantly with RGB lighting. They look stunning when lit up and love how you can change the way they light up with JBLs software. The ear cushions are nice and thick too. A nice little touch is the giant L and R for the left and right ear cup. Great for old folks like me who typically fumble around with headsets and earbuds as it takes me a few seconds to figure out which side is which. I know, I’m special…
Out of the box, you have everything you need to get started right away. In addition to the actual headphones, you get a USB charging cable, a 3.5 mm audio cable, USB wireless dongle, windshield foam for the microphone, a quick start guide, and a little cloth bag for storing your cans. The packaging is nice, modern and eye-catching. There is no question that this headset will make a statement on store shelves.
Comfort-wise, the Quantum 810 delivers. While the headset is a little on the heavier side, it is extremely comfortable. That said, after about an hour or so, my ears did get hot. Granted, it is still warm in my part of the country and well, I am a little on the heavy side. Yet, I don’t have this issue with other headsets, especially those with ear cooling gel cups. Regardless, they feel great, are easily adjustable, and fit perfectly on my melon. They are also eyeglasses friendly. I was able to wear my reading glasses while listening to music and the headset didn’t interfere with the glasses at all.
I will say there is a lot going on with the headset when it comes to buttons. In addition to the mic that is located on the left ear cup, you have the ANC button, the chat balance audio dial, volume control, the mic mute button, and also located on the left ear is the 3.5 mm jack and the USB port. The right side isn’t as bad with the power and Bluetooth pairing buttons. In the dark, it’s a lot to manage when learning the headset.
The versatility of this headset is outstanding. It works with PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, PS4, PS5, Nintendo Switch, and mobile phones or tablets. Having one headset that can work with all your devices is wonderful and in the end, saves you some money from having to purchase multiple headsets for all your devices.
Not to mention this headset is loaded with features. In addition to the active noise canceling feature, the headset has 50mm drivers that support JBLs quantum sound feature. It also supports DTS Headphone X version 2.0 which offers multi-channel 3D audio. This gives you that superb surround sound audio experience. It also includes dual wireless, 2.4GHz and Bluetooth 5.2, so connectivity issues and lag are never an issue. For the price point of $199.00USD, you get a lot of bang for your buck in this package.
You could argue the 43-hour battery life of the Quantum 810 is the best-selling feature. Anything over 40 hours is impressive and if you run out of juice, simply plug in the USB cord and continue playing. So you’ll never have to stop playing in the event your headset runs out of battery.
When it comes to sound, these bad boys pack a punch! The bass and overall clarity are excellent. I loved how I could adjust the bass level with the software and naturally, I cranked the bass up. The deep bass and clear highs made for an audio experience that fully immerses you. I have no complaints with the overall sound as they certainly rival some of the best headsets on the market. Whether you are listening to music or playing Call of Duty, the Quantum 810 delivers in a big way in the audio department.
I have to admit, I really enjoyed my time with the JBL Quantum 810. For the price, it is jam-packed with features that’ll satisfy everyone from the audiophile in your life to that gamer just looking for a great set of cans for all their gaming needs. It’s a versatile headset that is comfortable and sounds fantastic. The battery life is phenomenal and the noise canceling features are the icing on the cake.
