The Arkham series received universal praise for its stunning combat system. The way you could glide across the battlefield and elegantly annihilate foes perfectly captured the spirit of the bat. Due to its success, plenty of games adopted this format and it is now a staple in the genre. Although Gotham Knights is built on the same foundation. It alters aspects that can be jarring at first. So, use this guide to master combat and be the ultimate defender of Gotham.
It Gets Dodgy
Rather than the traditional counter button, Gotham Knights requires you to dodge. When enemies strike, a red icon will appear and this highlights that you need to get out of the way. However, if you press it instantly, you will avoid harm but you will not get a momentum meter boost. So, you need to time your evasion to reap the benefits.
Timing, Timing, Timing
Do not button mash! As a strike lands, throw another and continue to bounce from foe to foe in cinematic fashion There’s a certain rhythm to the combat which you will need to master. Doing so will reward you by increasing your momentum meter.
Know Your Enemy
Certain characters have particular weaknesses which you must exploit. Some have a strong guard which you must break in order to inflict damage. To do so, simply hold your attack which will unleash a thunderous strike. This will daze your opponent and allow you to deliver a beating. Others take further damage from the use of particular abilities which adds further importance to the use and timing of these.
The momentum meter is imperative to your success. Doing the above will help you quickly build the meter and allow you to submit pain to your adversaries with unique ability attacks. Each ability has a distinct strength, so use them wisely. Some will help if you are getting overwhelmed whereas others are designed to deal with larger foes. So learn what each ability does and use them in a suitable scenario.
