With a big variety and some of the most anticipated games of the year, October is looking like a good month for games, and COGconnected is here to showcase the ones worth checking out first.

Forza Horizon 4 (PC, X1) – Oct. 2

The newest title in the Forza Horizon series drops early this October, and there are plenty of reasons to check it out. Set in a fictionalized version of the United Kingdom, this open-world racing game is introducing seasons to the franchise, making it entirely possible to skid out on black ice, just like you do in real life. Unlike real life, Forza Horizon 4 packs in hundreds of customization options and vehicles. Forza Horizon 4 releases October 2.

Assassin’s Creed Odyssey (PC, PS4, X1) – Oct. 5

The Assassin’s Creed series has been with us for over a decade now, but we’ve long moved past the days of Desmond. With Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, the series is moving in a new direction, bringing more roleplay elements into the fold and allowing the player much more choice with the decisions they make. Odyssey takes place four hundred years before the events of Assassin’s Creed Origins and predates the traditional, you know, Assassin’s Creed, but the trade-off means playing as a descendent of King Leonidas in the midst of Greek wars. Assassin’s Creed Odyssey comes out early October.

Super Mario Party (Switch) – Oct. 5

Super Mario Party doesn’t look as though it’s going to reinvent the wheel, with players navigating a familiar board game format and competing in minigrames, but you don’t always need to to have a good time. Bringing back controls from older installments in the Mario Party series, this game promises a fun and nostalgic foray into Mario’s world while adding new components and Switch-compatible features to keep the gameplay exciting.
