The Top 5 Video Games Arriving in July 2023
June ended up being a massive month for video game releases. July is looking like a bit of a typical summer lull, before the inevitable Fall game release avalanche. But July still has some great-looking games. We have three runners-up this month. Remnant 2 is a rogue-like first person shooter published, but not developed, by Gearbox. Double Dragon Gaiden is a side-game in the long-running beat-em-up franchise. And Legend of Heroes: Trails into Reverie is another side game, this time from the Trails in the Sky JRPG series. 5. Disney Illusion Island – July 28
Nintendo made The Top 5 Video Games Arriving in July 2023 a lot more interesting with their Nintendo Directs this year. Not a lot is known about Disney Illusion Island right now. We know it’s a Disney-themed 2D platformer. And that it’s a spiritual successor to the Castle and World of Illusion Sega Genesis games, and the Epic Mickey Nintendo Wii games. The Illusion series is pretty beloved by 2D and 3D platform fans, and hopefully Disney Illusion Island will lead to its future expansion. Disney Illusion Island is a Switch exclusive.
4. LISA: Definitive Edition – July 18
LISA: The Painful is one of the great modern PC-exclusive RPGs. It’s finally heading to consoles, with all of its updates and DLC, including the LISA: The Joyful sequel. It’s an Earthbound-inspired JRPG, with dark themes juxtaposed with lots of humor. LISA: Definitive Edition will be available for all consoles and PC.
