Michael Chow (Contributor) Â –Â The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion
Perhaps not as refined as Skyrim, Oblivion was a huge leap from Morrowind in terms of gameplay (at least in my opinion). The amount of content in Oblivion is huge as well, whether you play as a thief, mage, or whatever you like, there’s something for you to do.
Anthony Bacchus (Contributor) and Ahmed Mohamed (Contributor)Â – Fallout 3
Anthony: Back in 2007, I had no idea how much Fallout 3 would consume me. It was all I could think about at school and at work — all I wanted was to dive into that wasteland and stay there for hours. And man, did I love every minute of it! Not only was Bethesda able to bring this beloved series into a new direction, but they also created one of the defining games of last generation. It’s incredible, and a must play for any gamer.
Ahmed: Fallout 3 has terrible graphics, a combat system that only exists because of the awful controls, and a threadbare story that only peaks in its introduction. And yet the game’s ability to put the player in the most interesting and morally grey scenarios one can imagine makes all the bad feel meaningless. Fallout 3’s perplexing scenarios are the sole reason it is on my list.
