5) Battlefield 2042 (Nov 19, 2021)
This year Call of Duty: Vanguard looks to decrease the gap between the Call of Duty and Battlefield franchises with its larger scale matches and breakable environments. That said, there’s a big reason why many gamers are still insanely excited for Battlefield 2042. Better and more realistic environments and gunplay. Battlefield has set itself apart from other first-person shooters for exactly that reason. There’s set to be a slew of weapons and vehicles at your disposal in 2042 as well. Combine that with huge 128 player battles with environmental hazards that are sure to wreak havoc on every game, and it’s no wonder the Battlefield fan base is going crazy this year. Even after the recent delay.
4) Call of Duty: Vanguard (Nov 5, 2021)
Another year, another Call of Duty. So what exactly does Vanguard bring to the table this time around? Well if the beta was any indication it’s not only smooth, but hella fun. Sledgehammer, Treyarch and company have created a game that still feels and plays like COD, yet is definitely refreshing. It might even give Battlefield fans a run for their money. Different lobby sizes that change the entire strategy and gameplay, new and exciting game modes like Patrol, and the weapon customizability that’s top notch are all factors to watch out for. In fact, pair all that with what the developers are promising to be an incredible campaign and a fantastic continuation of Cold War’s Dark Aether zombies, and there’s no question this is one of the most highly anticipated games of this Fall and Winter.
3) Metroid Dread (Oct 8, 2021)
The excitement following the Metroid Dread announcement at E3 earlier this year could be heard around the world, echoing for all to hear. Metroid has been around for years, 25 to be exact, and now there’s a brand new addition to fawn over. So what’s all the hubbub about? If you’ve ever played a Metroid title it’s pretty self-explanatory but to be clear, you put Samus and some action-packed gameplay together and you’ve got yourself a banger. Not much else to say really. October 8th can’t come quickly enough.
2) Far Cry 6 (Oct 7, 2021)
I’m excited to see the cast of Far Cry 6, which includes Breaking Bad’s Anton Castillo as the main antagonist, bring Ubisoft’s vision to fruition. From what we’ve seen from all the trailers the story of a revolution in Mexico looks not only insanely enthralling, but emotional as well. And if you loved having Cheeseburger as your helpful sidekick in Far Cry 5 get ready for an even more interesting animal companion this time around. You’ll get to choose between a crocodile, a wiener dog or a punk rooster. What a time to be alive. Come on, like you haven’t dreamed of having a pet crocodile!
1) Halo Infinite (Dec 8, 2021)
The only game that fans would be more thrilled about, the only one that could potentially eclipse Halo Infinite here in the top spot, would be GTA 6. Since that’s not going to happen, even in my wildest dreams, Halo Infinite earns the crown here. Free multiplayer? Check. The return of Master Chief? Check. Halo is back after 6 long years and fans are incredibly delighted for the latest installment, coming this December. You’ve seen the alpha gameplay right? We’re dealing with some good ‘ol classic Halo that feels better than ever. Enough said.
