3 Up, 3 Down – November 2024
November 2024 was a very similar month to October 2024, in terms of game release quality. There were lots of high profile games. The biggest titles of the month scored in the 75-85 range. And it was difficult to make a Bad section, because there were few games that scored poorly. One of the games in The Bad section actually scored 70/100! And one of the games from The Good section is a massive October release that took some time to properly evaluate. Without further ado, here are The Three Best (and Worst) Video Games from November 2024:
The Good
Call of Duty: Black Ops 6

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is the best Call of Duty game in a long time. One of the big complaints about last year’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III was that the single player campaign was weak. Now, the single player campaign in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is one of its strongest features. The developers took some major narrative gambles that totally paid off. And the multiplayer content is as strong as ever. Our reviewer noted “The seamless launch with minimal issues speaks to the 4-year development cycle, resulting in one of the most polished COD entries at launch in recent memory”. Despite releasing in October, we had to include Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 in The Three Best (and Worst) Video Games from November 2024. It’s so fantastic.
Empire of the Ants

Empire of the Ants is the highest scoring game in The Three Best (and Worst) Video Games from November 2024. It’s a real time strategy game, where the player controls an ant colony. There are multiple mission types, and, surprisingly, a strong narrative, as Empire of the Ants is based on a 1991 novel. Our reviewer praised the production values, writing “The visuals are outstanding and the music is brilliant”. If you’re a fan of RTS games, then Empire of the Ants is a must-play.
Lego Horizon Adventures

The latest Lego game is based on Sony’s Horizon series. It’s a retelling of the events of the other Horizon games. The gameplay is exactly what one would expect from a Lego Horizon game; it’s an easy, fun adventure game. Our reviewer’s only complaint was that Lego Horizon Adventures just plays things too safe. It’s also the most gorgeous Lego game to date. Our reviewer wrote “it is one of, if not the best Lego games out there”. Lego Horizon Adventures was an obvious inclusion for the Good section of The Three Best (and Worst) Video Games from November 2024.
