The Three Best (and Worst) Video Games March 2025

3 Up, 3 Down โ€“ March 2025

March 2025 was another awesome month for video game releases. What makes this month unique is a lot of the biggest releases werenโ€™t loved by our reviewers. The main theme of Marchโ€™s Bad section, is that a lot of retro releases havenโ€™t aged well. Many of these games play well for those with nostalgia goggles, but struggle to connect with newcomers. Without further ado, here are The Three Best (and Worst) Video Games from March 2025:

The Good

The First Berserker: Khazan

The First Berserker: Khazan is a blatant Soulslike. Thatโ€™s itโ€™s biggest problem. Itโ€™s a game dripping with derivative copycat industry trends. Butโ€ฆ itโ€™s an excellent Soulslike. The visuals have a unique anime meets Conan the Barbarian aesthetic. The combat and boss battles feel great. Our reviewer noted โ€œthe game manages to sneak a few new and smart mechanics into the formulaโ€. The First Berserker: Khazan does enough to be a strong recommendation to Souls fans. It was the only game to score lower than 90 in the Good section of The Three Best (and Worst) Video Games March 2025.

MLB The Show 25

The MLB The Show baseball sims have been really good for the last few years, and MLB The Show 25 is no exception. There are actually some important improvements to gameplay, animations, and the Diamond Dynasty mode. Our reviewer wrote โ€œthe improved fielding/ running/ hitting systems make the core gameplay loop feel fantasticโ€. Although they didnโ€™t appreciate the Diamond Dynasty microtransactions. Excellent sports games always score well, which makes MLB The Show 25 and easy inclusion in the Good section of The Three Best (and Worst) Video Games March 2025.

Split Fiction

Split Fiction is the newest co-op-only adventure game from the studio behind It Takes Two. Itโ€™s got lots of gameplay styles, such as exploring, platforming, driving, and shooting. The narrative is about two writers trapped in the science fiction and fantasy worlds in their minds. Our reviewer loved Split Fiction, scoring it a 97, making it the highest scoring game in The Three Best (and Worst) Video Games March 2025. Our reviewer noted that โ€œmechanically, it is user-friendly, even for those who donโ€™t play games muchโ€, which makes it a game everyone should try.
