The 3 Best and 3 Worst Video Games From January 2017

The Worst

Rise & Shine

There is no question Rise & Shine is a great looking game. It oozes personality and contains a lot of humor. It is just too bad the gameplay doesn’t hold up well. If you’re desperate for a 2D puzzler/shooter game then perhaps Rise & Shine is worth a look. That said, it just isn’t a great game. There are far too many mechanical issues and the amount of repetition gets in the way of its enjoyment.

Crypt of the Serpent King

Crypt of the Serpent King is a budget title, so it is hard to beat up on a cheap indie game. Yet that is exactly what we are doing here because there are certain elements that cannot be forgiven or overlooked. Recent updates have addressed many of the issues we had with the game at the time when we reviewed it yet the game doesn’t have many redeeming qualities. If you are looking to burn a few hours and looking for something a little less mainstream, sure give it a shot but otherwise you aren’t missing much if you decide to pass on Crypt of the Serpent King.

Super Dungeon Tactics

I’ll give the game some credit here. It did a fantastic job on it’s camera and the general controls. You can do just about everything one-handed, and it’s all rather simple and intuitive. At around twenty dollars, Super Dungeon Tactics isn’t going to break the bank for most. That said, there isn’t much in terms of innovation and we suggest grabbing one of the XCOM games or almost any other tactics title for PC instead. With Super Dungeon Tactics, you’re probably just going to get super frustrated instead of having fun.
