Mortal Kombat 11 is the latest game to bless you with the gruesome powers of non-consensual organ extraction. Play with your friends and quickly discover who’s had the power to de-limb a muscular adult inside them all along. Long-time fans will appreciate the numerous callbacks, while new acolytes of the Mortal Kombat world will surely appreciate the gleeful, unhinged brutality on constant display. It’s like a regular fighting game without any troublesome nonsense like restraint or tact. Leave your inhibitions at home, kids. They’ve no purchase here.
As a government employee, I can say with come certainty that no actual federal gig will ever be as cool or weird as this one. Control is the perfect way to live out your paranormal state secret daydreams, without any of the mind-numbing paperwork. Although your coworkers’ weird ramblings are still quite bad for your health, here you can eradicate their corrupted butts with a shape-shifting psychic firearm! Anyone in your life convinced their job is the absolute worst would do well to experience some perspective with this, the most punishing of office jobs in existence.
Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night
2D Castlevania games are cool AF, and Bloodstained is made by one of their progenitors. At the very least, Igarashi made the game that birthed the term ‘MetroidVania.’ If you have anyone in your life who’s racked up a ton of hours tracking and backtracking through a massive world with an ever-expanding power set, they will slurp up this game like four-star ramen. As a long-time MetroidVania devotee, I can attest to this fact. Bloodstained is that wholesome blend of compelling and confounding that will keep you hooked until the very end, or even longer if one of those completionists. A perfect gift for all the backtrackers in your life.
This one was cooking for a good while before we got the finished product, and it looks like it was super worth it. Hand-drawn graphics, complex combat, a rich narrative, and a proper challenge await you. Or in this case, the gamer in your life who gets down with beautiful turn-based (but also action) RPGs. Indivisible wears many hats, but the most prominent one is that of a strategy game. Fast reflexes and exploration aside, this one is all about choosing moves with due care and concern. Otherwise, you’re doomed? If this feels up the alley of anyone in your life, don’t hesitate to take the plunge.
