The Five Best Parts of Northern FanCon 2017 in Prince George, British Columbia
Without a doubt, fan conventions and expos – like the Northern FanCon in Prince George, BC – are a ton of fun to attend! This year’s event was no different and we wanted to take some time to break down five aspects of the event that really made it worth attending. Here’s hoping Northern FanCon returns in 2018!  And if it does, COGconnected will be there to bring you the coverage you want!
Celebrities
This year’s Northern FanCon had a solid group of celebrity guests in attendance. The list included Mark Meer (Commander Shepard from the Mass Effect trilogy), Charles Martinet (the voice of Super Mario), Alicia Witt (Paula from The Walking Dead), Kevin Sorbo (Hercules), Sam J. Jones (Flash Gordon) and Karl Urban (Judge Dredd). There were opportunities to get autographs or even get your photo taken with one of them! Kevin Sorbo, Sam J. Jones, and Karl Urban each had Q&A sessions that were free to guests. Mark Meer hosted a cosplay contest. And Alicia Witt took to the stage on Saturday night for an incredible solo piano performance!
Cosplay
If I were the wager a guess, I’d say at least a third of the attendees were dressed up in cosplay. The entire show floor was a cornucopia of characters from all sorts of TV shows, video games, movies or comics. The level of effort that many attendees put into their costumes was nothing short of amazing. There were also a handful of professional cosplayers in attendance, each in costume at their own booths, selling their merchandise.
