Number 3: Iron Man
Naturally, the heroes that can fly are the ones you’ll want to take with you if you’re pressed for time. Levels are a breeze to navigate with Iron Man, but more importantly, the way he’s able to switch between high-speed flight and combat at the drop of a dime makes Tony extremely useful. He comes equipped with an extensive arsenal of weapons, the most devastating of which is the Hulkbuster suit. Call this bad boy in and watch your enemies crumble away. And if you’re suffering from boss fight difficulty spikes, this is precisely what the doctor ordered.
Number 2: Captain America
I had more fun with Captain America than any other character. Cap’s skill tree allows for specific builds to essentially generate an unlimited number of orbs. This, in turn, sets him up with a never-ending Rolodex of finishing maneuvers. Aside from that, though, if you want to get up close and personal, you can’t do much better than Steve Rogers. His shield is capable of not only repelling nearly every attack but can be used as a pinball to wipe a room in seconds. Throw in a few massive combos that utterly melt enemy health bars, and it’s easy to see why Captain America is the best all-around combatant in Marvel’s Avenger.
Number 1: Thor
Crystal Dynamics knew exactly what they were doing in regards to developing Thor’s power. He truly is the only character to feel as if he’s from another world. Once his level is close to being maxed out, Thor becomes nigh unstoppable. See, the ‘God of Thunder’ has the ability to chain his lightning-based attacks together from one opponent to another. Eventually, this becomes an almost never-ending cycle of death and destruction, as enemies become frozen in place, unable to attack. Combine this with Thor’s ability to take to the skies and zip around maps at lightning speeds, and there’s no other choice for the best hero in Marvel’s Avengers.
