5. The Callisto Protocol
The Callisto Protocol backends our top 5 in COGconnected’s 2022 Best Looking Game. While the game features realistic-looking characters played by well-known actors and actresses, the game also shines with its environment and enemy designs. As a spiritual successor to Dead Space, the environments of The Callisto Protocol live up to its standards.
4. Stray
If you put a cute cat in a dystopian setting filled with robots, you’re going to get noticed for your art direction. Stray’s cute cat and setting aren’t the only thing it has going for it, but it definitely helps in this category. Playing through Stray is almost like entering a whole new world, and that’s what it’s all about!
3. Elden Ring
FromSoftware games aren’t known for amazing graphics, but that doesn’t mean they look bad. They definitely took a giant step forward with Elden Ring, improving its technical graphics and extrapolating it across a beautiful open world. With what may be FromSoftware’s best game yet, Elden Ring lands squarely at #3 on this year’s list of Best Looking Games.
2. Horizon: Forbidden West
Similar to Horizon: Zero Dawn, Horizon: Forbidden West is a stunning game that combines a brilliant art style with technical precision. What sets some of the games at the top of this list apart from the rest of the pack is that it blends technical graphics alongside imaginative art styles and creations, and Horizon does the same. Unsurprisingly, Horizon: Forbidden West ends up at #2 of our Best Looking Games.
1. God of War: Ragnarök
God of War: Ragnarok came into 2022 as one of the most anticipated games of the year, and boy did it deliver. Kratos and company were back at it, aiming for perfection in multiple areas. After the dust settled, God of War: Ragnarok stood above the others as COGconnected’s Best Looking Game of 2022. The art style, technical prowess, and overall direction made God of War: Ragnarok not only one of the best-looking games of the year, but one of our favorites as well.
