4. Jennifer Hale (Commander Shepard, Mass Effect Trilogy)
Are you a fem-Shep or a dude-Shep? The original Mass Effect was one of the earliest examples where it made a difference which gender you selected. Jennifer Hale recorded thousands of lines of dialogue for the Mass Effect Trilogy remake. She made fem-Shep the clear choice.
3. Erika Mori (Alex Chen, Life is Strange)
When you think about it, Alex Chin is the only character on our list that’s close to being a “real” person. Despite her extra-sensory power, she’s vulnerable, confused, and easy to relate to. Her story arc was beautiful. Erika Mori and the game’s writers and director did a great job.
2. Jason Kelley (Colt Vahn, Deathloop)
Colt Vahn is a great leading man. He’s larger than life in a 1960s spy-thriller way. Confused, angry, and clever, he has a lot to figure out. Jason Kelly had a tough assignment. He nailed it.
1. Maggie Robertson (Lady Dimitrescu, Resident Evil Village)
Although her stature and twin physical assets got a lot of attention, there was more to Lady D than met the eye. There was attitude. Seductive, dominating, cruel and ironic. Lady D is now one of the most recognizable characters in gaming history. It’s a tribute to the writers, the animators and most of all, Maggie Robertson’s performance.
