5 Reasons Why The Switch Puts Nintendo Back in The Console Game

Multiplayer Goodness

Remember the days when you could play against the people next to you on ALL multiplayer games? From the little we have seen so far, there will obviously be split screen multiplayer on the big screen, but also on the little screen! The trailer also shows two Switches being paired up to play a basketball game locally. No doubt online multiplayer will return, but being able to connect to nearby Switches for multiplayer is huge! Although details are yet to emerge, we are assuming that WiFi is not necessary given the feature was shown on a park bench.

The Potential

There is so much potential in the console that we probably can’t cover it all in this one article. For one thing, we aren’t sure how the Switch will affect the 3DS. Right now, Pokemon, Monster Hunter, Fire Emblem, Yokai Watch, and more all make their home on the 3DS. Could we see these huge franchises make their home on the Switch? The Switch is also meant to be played on the go, we can definitely see an abundance of Switches out in the public replacing casual tablets as well as being the console of choice at gaming conventions.

With just a three-minute trailer and a graphic of third party developers so far, we are COGconnected are pretty excited about the Switch. Like many of you, we can’t wait to hear more details about the new console. As a Wii U owner, I personally would love to hear about any possible relationship between the consoles, but am extremely excited about the Switch nonetheless. Although still too early to tell, it definitely feels like Nintendo just jumped right back into the home console race.
