3 Up, 3 Down – The Hitman Edition – What We Loved and What We Hated

Things We Hated

Forced to Replay First Mission

After you completed the first mission, it is immediately reset and you are told you have to redo the mission but in a different way. While I liked the menu option that showcased the various ways you could eliminate the target (about 14 for this mission), it was extremely frustrating to finish the mission, only to be told to redo it. I did not think it was the right way to start off the beta’s first mission. Maybe if the reasoning was explained a little more, I wouldn’t have been so frustrated.

Saving

I had a few issues with saving while playing the Hitman Beta. During gameplay I would notice that automatic save feature would appear in the corner. So when I would fail a mission, I would try to load my latest save; however, the order and the naming conventions were unreal. Just a picture and time stamp, and if you are like me and have to redo missions over and over, there are numerous amounts of saves to load and it can get confusing as to which one is the one I wanted. I found myself manually saving right before I did something major like take down someone.

Its Short

Sure I get it’s only Beta but the experience was far too short for my liking. I wished the development team could have taken a page from The Division Beta and made it a much more robust experience. I guess a Beta is better than no Hitman Beta at all but c’mon man give us something that at least wets our appetite.

Final Thoughts

Can I just say how excited I am for Hitman to come out on March 11th now that I have played this beta? Gameplay is cleaver and varied, visuals are eye catching, and its got an AI that is smart enough to know what you are up too if you are not careful. This makes for a challenging and unique experience. And one that will definitely capture and retain your attention.
