Cyberpunk 2077 Gameplay Demo: 17 Small Details You May Have Missed

13) Speaking of weapons and the four damage types, the character menu shows us that V has a total of four weapon slots. If it stays this way in the final game, then players may have to think carefully about which weapons they grab before venturing into Night City. That said, Cyberpunk 2077 may play like The Witcher 3 and allow players to switch weapons in an out of their inventory.

14) In true RPG fashion, weapon effectiveness is determined by stats: DPS (damage per second), PNT (penetration), ACC (accuracy), and ROF (rate of fire). Weapons with unique stats are found at various intervals: 38:14 Uncommon “Budgets Arms Blunderbuss”; 40:28 Epic Weapon: “Kang Tao Type 41”; Rare 43:54 “Militech M-31A1 AICW.” All of them come with melee and ranged damage and sub stats in the form recoil, spread, and range. None of them, however, display damage type.

15) Later in the demo, we’re introduced to high-strung Militech agent Meredith Stout. Due to the heated nature of the interaction, you probably missed the health bar auto-regenerating in the upper left corner. Since regeneration is slow, however, some Nikola soda may be necessary to increase the rate. At 11:34, the Nikola can’s description reads, “Restores a small amount of health over time,” a regeneration mechanic that likely stems from The Witcher 3.

16) Now, let me draw your attention to the inside of Jackie’s car. It has a surplus of bells and whistles. I want to point out the wheel, which marginally resembles a modern-day steering wheel. Actually, it closely resembles a pilot’s yoke. The wheel design was my first clue that the sports car can fly. The other clues came from above the dashboard, where you can see several switches and the “Ignition” button. If I’m getting really technical, I can point to the switch labeled “vector,” which, in aeronautic terms, refers to a plane’s heading and magnitude. Why would a car need that? Of course, these could simply represent CD Projekt RED’s attention to detail.

17) At the very end of the demo, when V reaches Street Cred level 2, she acquires perk points. What the hell are perk points? I’m guessing they’re unrelated to the attributes we saw in the character customization screen. If I had to speculate, I would say perk points can be spent toward the Hacking and Engineering skills, which show up at timestamps 38:34 and 38:49 How players decide to spend their perk points, I wager, will determine their role as a full-blown engineer, jack of all trades, or a seasoned Netrunner (or whatever else CDPR hasn’t shown us).

Despite everything I’ve listed here, I’m sure there are more demo details I missed. Did you notice anything else? Like how the music responds to moments of tension? How the character creation menu features lists names from the Cyberpunk 2020 pen and paper RPG? Let us know in the comments below.
