Disgaea 3: Absence of Detention
Absence of Detention is a fantastic remake of Nippon Ichi Softwareโs PlayStation 3 hit. The only thing better than the gameโs fantastic combat is the top-notch writing. Few games are funny enough to bring out audible laughter from gamers, but Disgaea 3 will constantly have you chuckling. Become the most evil demon of all by becoming a hero!
Oreshika: Tainted Bloodlines
Most games donโt receive a sequel 15 years after release, but that is the case for the Japanese-only JRPG Ore no Shikabane wo Koete Yuke. Thankfully for gamers, the sequel managed to see a worldwide release thanks to Sony publishing. What makes Oreshika: Tainted Bloodlines stand out is the gameโs gorgeous art style, and a unique mechanic where in-game characters can only live two years due to a curse that causes rapid aging.
Ar nosurge Plus: Ode to an Unborn Star
A port of Gustโs PlayStation 3 tile, Ar nosurge Plus: Ode to an Unborn Star is filled with additional content. New playable characters, an added tutorial, and all of the PS3 gameโs DLC makes this the definitive version. It also features an intriguing story that takes place from two different perspectives, allowing the full picture to be developed throughout the game.
Disgaea 4: A Promise Revisited
Featuring all of the gameโs DLC, A Promise Revisited is the best way to play Disgaea 4. Arguably the best game in the series, Disgaea 4 features a politically focused story that fleshes out the Netherworld. Despite some serious overtones, Disgaea 4 still has the seriesโ trademark humor which makes this one of the most enjoyable tactical RPGs available.
Tales of Hearts R
Tales of Hearts, which was previously a Nintendo DS title that only saw release in Japan, finally made it to both Europe and North America on the Vita. The new version of the game, Tales of Hearts R, re-imagines the game in full 3D, and adds brand new characters to the mix. If youโre a fan of the Tales series, then you canโt go wrong with Tales of Hearts R.
