Abyssal Merge Demo Is Here, Bringing Fish-Merging Chaos and Deep-Sea Horrors

Forget Relaxing Fishing Trips, Abyssal Merge Has You Fighting Horrors

Abyssal Merge, a new roguelite that mixes Suika-style puzzle mechanics with bullet-heaven action, launched its public demo on Steam on 6 November. Developed by first-time studio Time Flies Studio Inc. and published by 2 Left Thumbs, the game puts a hectic spin on fishing by asking players to juggle two challenges at once: merging fish and fighting off terrifying creatures from the deep.

In Abyssal Merge, players take on the role of a fisherman whose working day quickly turns into a fight for survival. The screen splits into two sections: dangerous Horrors approach from above while players manage their fishing net below. The trick is to keep both sides under control, as ignoring either one could quickly spell trouble.

Merging fish isn’t just about getting bigger combinations. It also provides ammunition and extra power to help take down incoming enemies. Defeating these Horrors rewards players with new upgrades, giving them a better chance of surviving the increasingly chaotic encounters.

The game also features roguelite progression, allowing players to unlock permanent upgrades between runs and gradually strengthen their abilities. Each run lasts around 30 minutes, making it a good fit for players who enjoy quick sessions packed with action.

The newly released demo offers access to the first two playable boats and supports English, Japanese, Brazilian Portuguese, and Simplified Chinese.

Combining puzzle-solving with frantic monster-blasting action is certainly an unusual idea, but that’s exactly what makes Abyssal Merge stand out. If you’re up for testing your multitasking skills, the demo is ready to give you a taste of the chaos.
