Watch Out! Shai-Hulud Is Wrecking Fortnite
Arrakis has officially invaded Fortnite. Funcom has teamed up with Meta4 Interactive’s Power Up team to bring a special Dune: Awakening experience to select Fortnite Creator Islands, letting players unleash sandworms, collect iconic weapons, and earn Arrakis-themed rewards.
The crossover celebrates Dune: Awakening’s recent console release and is already available on several popular Creator Islands. One of the main destinations is Crazy Red vs. Blue (island code 2898-7886-8847), where players can dive into a dedicated Dune-themed area.
The biggest attraction is, unsurprisingly, Shai-Hulud. Players who discover the secret code can obtain a Thumper and summon the enormous sandworm. Once deployed, Shai-Hulud erupts from beneath the ground, tearing through structures and eliminating anyone unlucky enough to be nearby.
Players can also grab the Jabal Spitdart Rifle, with eliminations causing opponents to disintegrate into clouds of Spice. An Elimination Quest gives players another reason to stick around, with three Arrakis mastery tiers unlocking the Atreides Scout Hood, Atreides Scout Helmet, and Gurney Halleck’s Baliset.
Meanwhile, Troll Bedwars (island code 9783-9810-3294) has received its own Arrakis makeover. The map replaced its lava areas with sand, creating the perfect playground for Shai-Hulud. These Dune-themed activities will only stick around for the next few days, so fans should jump in before the sands reclaim them.
Dune: Awakening launched on PC in June 2025 and arrived on consoles in September 2026. This Fortnite crossover looks like a fittingly chaotic way to bring its version of Arrakis to an entirely new audience.
