Prelude Dark Pain Journeys Onto Steam Early Access Today

Step Inside the World of Statera in Prelude Dark Pain

Indie developer QUICKFIRE GAMES and publisher Firesquid have officially launched Prelude Dark Pain into Steam Early Access today. This marks the beginning of the dark fantasy tactical RPG’s journey with more than 15 hours of content. Players can jump into the game now for $19.99, with a limited-time 10% launch discount until 10th August.

The Early Access release includes the complete first act of the story. It introduces nine playable heroes: Soren, Tizon, Tammais, Maya, Sade, Gala, Rufio, Urza, and Rayder. Each character offers a distinct combat style with four active abilities, two passive skills, and unique virtues. Hence, giving players plenty of tactical options as they build their team. The current version also features an explorable world map and the game’s first cinematic cutscenes.

Prelude Dark Pain takes place in the bleak world of Statera, where an ancient force known as the Dark Pain threatens to consume everything in its path. The game blends deep turn-based tactical combat with a handcrafted fantasy world and an art style inspired by the works of Mike Mignola. Completing the experience is an atmospheric soundtrack composed by Kumi Tanioka, best known for her work on Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles and Minecraft.

QUICKFIRE GAMES co-founder Arturo Martín said the team is proud to reach this milestone and thanked Kickstarter backers and the community for supporting the project throughout development. He added that player feedback during Early Access will play an important role in shaping the game’s full release.

With its engaging tactical combat, striking visual style, and a strong foundation already in place, Prelude Dark Pain looks set to be an exciting title to follow as it continues to evolve throughout Early Access.
