Unravel the Truth in Possessor(s)
The anticipation is finally over, everyone! Possessor(s) has officially launched on Nintendo Switch 2, bringing Heart Machine’s distinct style of action and atmosphere to Nintendo’s latest platform. Developed by Heart Machine, the studio behind Hyper Light Drifter and Solar Ash, and published by Devolver Digital, the game arrives with a price tag of $9.99, marking a new permanent low.
Set within the haunting remains of Sanzu City, the story follows Luca, a high school student whose life is torn apart after a mysterious interdimensional catastrophe. Left on the brink of death, she survives by forming a fragile bond with Rhem, a powerful demon searching for a host. This uneasy alliance becomes the core of the experience, as both characters struggle to coexist while navigating a broken world filled with danger and unanswered questions.
The gameplay blends tight, skill-based combat with fluid exploration. It combines the responsiveness of platform fighters with the layered progression of Metroidvania design. Players move through a deeply interconnected city, uncovering hidden paths and secrets while mastering fast, combo-driven encounters. From crumbling skyscrapers to submerged aquariums, each environment carries a distinct mood, enhanced by detailed hand-drawn characters placed against striking 3D backdrops.
Originally released on PC and other platforms in November, Possessor(s) now reaches a broader audience with its Switch 2 debut. The lower price point also makes it more accessible to new players.
With its mix of emotional storytelling, stylish combat, and immersive world design, Possessor(s) stands out as a compelling addition to the growing Nintendo Switch 2 library.
